Summary:
The link to the year page is called 'archive' by default but the word 'calendar is used in the URL (e.g. http://dw-suggestions.dreamwidth.org/calendar). I would like both to have the same name: either archive or calendar.

Description:
I've often typed the wrong word in the URL because I expect archive to be 'archive' like reading is read, tags is tag, network is network and profile is profile. I can imagine some people expect to see the link be called 'calendar' and have to remember it's actually called archive.

I'd prefer "calendar" because the year-view is, in most defaults, an actual calendar. It's the month or day view that gives you a list of posts and looks more like an archive to me, but you can only get that by going through the calendar (most of the time).

I know this was something that we talked about doing way back in the days of closed beta, but apparently we never actually got around to doing it. We'll probably do is keep referring to it as the archive, I suspect. I ran a quick and informal straw-poll about this back in closed beta when we were trying to decide what to call things, and archive was the most popular choice. It is changeable, but not something I'd want to alter without good reason, since changing things around often gets confusing.

Provided we do stick with archivee, we'd probably change the URL to /archive, but also keep /calendar around as a redirect, for backwards compatibility.

I prefer "archive" because "calendar" associates with "calendar of scheduled events" too much for me, and "archive" says "old saved stuff", and it is not surprising to me when it is organized by date.
