Control strip needs more wrapping

Title:
Control strip needs more wrapping

Area:
control strip, styles

Summary:
The control strip is a table with many of its cells set to "no-wrap." Because of this, it displays inflexibly wide and causes horizontal scrolling

Description:
The control strip can get really wide when you're viewing a user with whom you have a complicated relationship "You and 25characterusername have mutual subscriptions and you have granted 25characterusername access." This can cause horizontal scrolling, despite the fact that all of our layouts are liquid and don't require horizontal scrolling.

Even in the case where you have a relatively simple relationship with the journal you're viewing, the default font-size is rather small. If one has minimum font sizes set to something larger, like 16 or 20 or 36, not only does the navbar cause horizontal scrolling, but one of the more useful portions for someone who has large font viewing needs or preferences is often not in the initial display screen, off to the side in a horizontal scroll.

If the no-wrap tags were removed for everything except usernames (and maybe the search text entry and its accompanying pull-down and submit button), the control strip would be more liquid and more useful at smaller resolutions and larger font sizes.

This is my favorite suggestion in weeks.

Also, not being a CSS person, I voted for "as-is" meaning "as long as wrapped text would stay on the control strip (meaning that the strip would get taller if needed) as opposed to flowing off onto the journal itself. I don't know enough to know if this is an issue with DW's CSS, but text overflowing its bounds is a pet peeve on other websites.

I have the problem when my font is set to a larger size for easier reading. This tends to embiggen the whole layout and push the links to view in light or my style off to the right, requiring extra scrolling. I wish those links were just always there.

ETA: also the wording of "You and 25characterusername have mutual subscriptions and you have granted 25characterusername access" is incredibly long and hard to scan! There has to be some better and shorter verbiage.

"You, exampleusername, mutually subscribed"

I'm kidding... I think.

Oh, but how about cutting out the sentence and using some kind of symbolic representation?

You <= subscribe => 25characterexampleusername
You <= access => 25characterexampleusername

Or

You = subscribe => 25character exampleusername

...but not so ugly.

Oh, I'm NOT arguing with access and subscription! I am keenly aware of the complicated vocabulary emotional issues there.

One solution would be to ditch the sentences and use a couple of bullet points

* you and exampleusername are mutually subscribed
* you give exampleusername access

or hey, just leave out the name...

you are mutually subscribed / You give them access

Huh. I just noticed that there's no such info in your style. All that stuff is missing

Hmm, I think it's about the same in terms of character count. Or is it just a bit shorter?
